Dancesport Club

Oxford University Dancesport Club trains dancers for competitions and performances across Ballroom, Latin, Salsa and Rock'n'Roll, as well as running classes in these dances and more. OUDC represents Oxford at competitions nationally, most notably at the annual Dancesport Varsity match against Cambridge, which also includes the Rock 'n' Roll Varsity match. In order to succeed, dancers need many hours of practice and lesson time in hired venues as well as access to costumes! OUDC strives to make dancing affordable for those who want to participate and compete. OUDC is grateful for the generosity of alumni to help it accomplish this.

Here are some of the ways in which your donation can make a difference:

  • £10 will pay for a new collar for a tailsuit
  • £25 will pay for the upkeep of team costumes for a year
  • £40 will pay for the cost of one competition for a student in need
  • £50 will pay a coach's expenses to attend a competition and support team dancers
  • £200 will pay for a new Dancesport team dress
  • £300 will pay for a new Dancesport team tailsuit
  • £400 will pay for a new sound system capable of filling the practice hall at Iffley Sport Centre
  • £800 is the minimum amount a Dancesport team member would spend in a year on subs, technique classes, competitions and private lessons, if they have one lesson a week during term. Many dancers spend much more once extra lessons, dance shoes and the essential fake tan are factored in!
