Competition Dance
Oxford University Competition Dance (OUCD) is Oxford’s competitive and performance dance team. Taking pride in its diversity, OUCD competes in a range of styles from ballet and jazz to tap, hip hop and commercial. Performances include an annual, sell-out showcase, college balls and Oxford events, the Varsity match and inter-university competitions.
OUCD has expanded its performances and presence around Oxford massively in recent years, and being entirely student run, maintains a real sense of team spirit. Members support each other by sharing skills and knowledge to improve the overall standard of the club, and regularly collaborate on choreography.
Dance is an expensive business, with costumes, competition transport and venue hire making up the club’s biggest annual costs. Membership fees absorb some of these costs, but it is extremely important to OUCD that fees are kept as low as possible so that the club remains accessible. OUCD also has ambitions of attending high profile competitions across the country, but is currently limited to those taking place in the South East which do not involve lengthy travel and an overnight stay.
Any gift, however small, will help keep OUCD accessible, while allowing it to expand its goals and to mount bigger and better performances, in addition to increasing its profile at inter-university competitions.
