The Sir William Dunn School of Pathology has an extensive research programme covering a wide range of fields, including bacteriology and virology, cell biology, immunology, microbiology and molecular biology. It is involved in the teaching of medical sciences to undergraduates.
The Dunn School is famous for its pioneering work on penicillin, which brought in the antibiotic era.
