For more than 400 years, the Bodleian has been preserving and sharing the world’s knowledge.

The Bodleian holds a wealth of information, ranging from ancient papyri to modern digital datasets. Our vision is to make these cultural and intellectual resources accessible to the widest possible audience and preserve them for future generations.

Your help today will ensure this vital work continues.

Support the Bodleian Libraries today

Every year, the Bodleian runs a lively programme of public engagement activities to share our collections, research resources and historic spaces with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Your gift will help ensure the Bodleian can continue sharing knowledge and providing rich cultural experiences, whether in-person or online, to foster a more informed and open democratic society.

Here’s what your gift could do

could fund the mounts and signage required for a small public exhibition in the Weston Library.
could enable us to host one of our popular English Literature Study Days for 60 sixth form students from local state schools.
could provide an exhibition tour for a local community group of adults with special needs or interests.
per month could help us to digitise a 16th century prayer book written in the hand of Elizabeth I that would be accessible from anywhere in the world.

Families have discovered a welcoming space in our Toddleian Library, sparking curiosity from a young age. Our current Oracles, Omens and Answers exhibition has allowed visitors to discover how people have sought answers to life’s big questions throughout history. And our Space for Reading has provided a pop-up library open to everyone as a space to encourage reading.

Every gift to the annual appeal – no matter the size – makes a valuable impact to our ability to share our unique collections with more people.

Fascinating exhibition. Brings writing to life. We are used to seeing the end result – it’s wonderful to see the effort, mistakes and thought behind printed books.
